ALTER MON EGO
«The body as the fundamental basis of our inner and outer societal stakes.»
For her exhibition Altère mon ego (2022), Laetitia Bica explores the body as a space of transition, metamorphosis, and self-construction. Starting from the observation that every socially constructed image is limited, she seeks to shift its contours in order to open new imaginaries and reveal more liberated possibilities of existence.
Her work originates in encounter. Through dialogue with performers and actors, she explores the states of tipping that traverse bodies and identities. Each image becomes the trace of a shared process, capturing a moment of transformation between what is and what might come to be.
Through interventions on bodies, faces, and surfaces, the artist alters the image to reveal its multiplicity. Textiles, supple materials, and metal structures extend this reflection on fragility, resistance, and impermanence. Between strength and vulnerability, her work questions representations of femininity and invites us to welcome alteration as an opening rather than a loss.
By setting human bodies, materials, and organic forms into dialogue, Altère mon ego offers a sensory reflection on identity as shifting territory, in perpetual transformation.
